About

Our Mission

BOXHOUSE strives to showcase artists whose work is intelligent, thoughtful, and cultural relevant to Seattle. This is done in a friendly and comfortable environment that maintains and continues the character & history of Pioneer Square.

BOX HOUSE. It's All in the Name.

Seattle’s traditional Pioneer Square, the location of BOX HOUSE, was once the home of indulgence and vice. The streets were lined with all kinds of businesses, including the well known “box houses”: combinations of low-class theaters and brothels, or theaters with saloons attached. Embracing the history of the city, neighborhood, and building, the name BOX HOUSE subtly references the beginning days of what is now Pioneer Square. The clean design, comfortable atmosphere, and cultured audience bring the space to life. The thriving gallery is the perfect combination of Seattle’s past with the ever-changing art world.
